Description

Great for all-purpose longboarding and cruising, and among the world’s best wheels for giant slalom, Super-G, banked slalom, bordercross, and downhill. Weighing more than 1/2-pound EACH, the Avilas bring new meaning to the terms “roll speed” and “inertia”.

The massive nature of these wheels allow it to not only grip like crazy, but they have the ability to hold an insane amount of momentum throughout those turns and cones. Named after a favorite training ground for California Central Coast racers, and the site of the 2002 World Slalom Championships, the Avilas dominate on long courses.

Big heavy wide

These wheels are quite large. Generous, flexible outer lip and notably grippy inner lip. These suckers will not want to slide, at all. You can make them do it. but its pretty grabby. Some people will trim the lips down to let them slide better. Save your time and buy something made for sliding if that's what you want to do. If you want to grip however, these are the wheels for you. Rather heavy wheels, which make you rather sluggish on the start. You feel like you're riding a tank. They hold a lot of momentum, and easily take bad roads. They won't jitter, slip, or bounce around very much if you deweight over cracks and bumps and shit pavement. Very smooth thane (bubblegum pink) that lets off a gentle SSSHHHHHH on smooth pavement. Absorbs and dampens well, and are so heavy that the vibrations and bumps hardly make it to your feet. Personally I use them always in split setups: the heavy Avilas in the back and somewhat smaller Big Zigs in the front. Gives me that great grip in the back while reducing sluggishness in the front. Avilas front and back is just too heavy to push around for my taste. Another tip: if you have the clearance for it, try flipping these wheels to face inwards. The grip feels different and perhaps better. I prefer my wheels facing outwards for pumping.
