Muirskate.com Staff say that the Loaded dervish is the best selling longboard skateboard on the market today because of the innovative bamboo construction that conforms to your feet when performing deep carves and added control in your freeride slides. When performing dance maneuvers on the Dervish the "Pop" that the bamboo give you allows more control in keeping the Dervish at your feet.

Here's the Loaded Dervish with the new graphic! This all bamboo board feels alive under your feet!

And here's what Adam Colton has to say about the new graphic -

Flown in from outer space in our new eco friendly veggie spacecraft is the fresh NEW Dervish Graphic. Besides being flown in on a spacecraft we are happy to announce the new Dervish graphic was printed using a much more environmentally friendly printing technique which gives the print greater depth. We are excited to explore and build upon this technique more the future.

WOW, what a surprise! You probably did not see it coming and neither did we. Well, actually we saw it coming but wanted to keep it a surprise. If you look closely at the graphic it incorporates the same mystical vibe and some of the design elements from the old graphic but is much cleaner. The flowing lines running across the middle of the deck, hmmm what are those? Well, folks that right there is an elephant balancing on an umbrella. Do you see it? Actually it's the flowing gown of a Whirling Dervish spinning. Check out this video to see what I am talking about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnunfciSr7k

The Dervish with the new graphic is already available on many online stores and will be available on the Loaded Online store 3/30/09. If you want the old one you're gonna have to hunt it down because we don't have any left.

Thanks for your support,

Adam C.

Loaded Boards

The Loaded Dervish symmetrical nose and tail design gives the dervish a dancer type feel. Vertical Laminated Bamboo technology gives the Loaded Dervish a rebounding feel of flexibility like no other longboard in the industry.

With a lower center of gravity and a torsionally stiff design, the Dervishes are built to hold an edge and maximize energy return.
A drop-thru carver designed to work with most reverse kingpin geometry trucks and 70mm+ wheels. Has a small nose and tail for manual and shovit tricks.

Wheelbase: 33 inches

Epoxy and Tri-axle fiberglass sandwich a vert-lam Bamboo core, pressed into concave and convex cambers for liveliness, responsiveness and high energy potential.

The Dervish is available in two flexes:
Flex 1: 150 lb - 230 lbs Flex softens a bit after 1 year!
Flex 2: 75 lb - 165lbs Flex softens a bit after 1 year!

Keep in mind that a softer flex pattern will give you more control and tighter turns at a wide range of speeds, but tend to lose stability slightly at higher speeds. Stiffer flex means more energy potential and more stability at higher speeds, but will not be as forgiving and lively when cruising.

A drop-thru carver designed to work with most reverse kingpin geometry trucks (Randal R-II, Paris, Holey, Bear, Gullwing Charger and Tracker Fastrack) and 70mm+ wheels. Small nose and tail for manual and shovits.

Inspired by ancient Persian Islamic art, we've named this board the "Dervish" as a reference to the Whirling Dervishes. A sub-sect of Sufism (Mystical Islam), the Dervishes are famous for their ritual whirling dances, an aerobic flowing movement designed to produce spiritual ecstasy (and deep carves).

180mm Randal RII - Raw - Longboard Skateboard Truck

This truck comes with a 50 Degree baseplate which is a great angle for cruising trucks.
If you would prefer a 42 Degree baseplate check out the Randal - RII - Variations

The 'cast in' axle makes a much stronger hanger than pressing the axle in. This process requires another heat treatment and a Grade 8 axle, but provides for a longer lasting truck than a traditional 'press in' axle. This process is also a little more costly, but we're firm believers that you shouldn't cut corners on skateboard trucks.

* Killer new truck for carving tight turns on minis, retros, slalom, and surf skates.
* Maintain stability at higher speeds, through turns and while pushing.
* 50º Base plates are more stable while compensating for a shorter wheel base.
* Randal R•II geometry allows for adjusting caster angle by flipping the hanger.
* From the company that pioneered the downhill truck market.
* Base plates and hangers interchangeable with the Randal System.
* Virgin grade aluminum. Grade 8 'cast in' axles.
* New raw finish.
* Stock with Randal Yellow bushings.
* Grade 8 king pin.
* Lifetime Guarantee.
* Made in the USA.

75mm Loaded Orangatang In Heat (3rd Gen) Longboard Skateboard Wheels

Offset design with hard, sharp edges for grip, thick lips for maintaining speed, and rippled inner walls for pregressive energy return through turns and when pumping. Designed to maintain grip, but when desired they can be slid very predictably and smoothly to shed speed. These wheels will not slide right out of the box because of their grippy, sharp edges. Repeatedly sliding wears down the sharp lips allowing for smoother slides. For a more slide oriented 75mm wheel check out the Durian Freeride wheels. The Orangatang In Heats are a popular wheel for speedboarding in high speed and rough road courses due to their size and wide contact patch.

0.13" Loaded Drop Through Risers

Drop Thru Risers are sold in groups of four (4) which will be enough for two trucks.

The included washers protect the bottom of the deck from wear due to the mounting hardware.

These risers are designed to work with the Loaded Dervish, but also work well with other Drop Thru style boards.

If you are using Randal or Paris Trucks, these risers require no modifications.
For Bear Grizzly Trucks, cut an additional slot the same size as the original just towards the middle of the original.
For other trucks, good luck!

Why Upgrade Your Trucks

Choosing the right trucks for your skateboard is a personal choice that you should be a part of. Serving as the suspension and turning system for a skateboard, the trucks are an integral part of the overall feel and performance of the ride. Two of the more popular styles of trucks are “standard” and “reverse kingpin”. To put it simply, standard kingpin setups – such as Independents, Trackers, and Destructo – are perfect for technical skating and grinds due to the geometry of the truck. The reverse kingpin trucks – such as Randals, Paris, and Bears – are designed to be used in the carving and downhill genre of skating involving a lot of precision in turning and speed. In order to get the best setup possible, keep in mind the style of skating you wish to do. Skate parks and trick skating would call for standard trucks, and bombing hills and cruising to class or work would call for the reverse kingpin trucks. Keep in mind that it is possible to bomb hills with standard trucks, and to bust a kickflip with reverse kingpins, but this is a choice that you will have to make on your own.

Why Upgrade Your Wheels

Just like trucks, choosing the right wheels for your new skateboard is a personal choice that you should be a part of.

At Muirskate.com we offer hundreds of choices of wheels from 11 Manufacturers.

First of all, it is important to know what rebound is in skateboarding. It is also important to know that wheels come in different shapes, sizes (Diameters), and Durometers (Hardness).

Good wheels are constructed of premium polyurethane. The best way to understand this is by using the gasoline that you put in your car as an analogy. Premium Gasoline is the same stuff that goes into making Premium wheels. You get better milelage and your car runs smoother and so will your skateboard.

Rebound is very important when riding around on a longboard especially on flat surfaces. Rebounding wheels are characteristics of wheels that are made of Premium Polyurethane. Rebound is that effect that you get when a wheel you hit a crack but the wheel does not loose momentum. The wheel appears to have maintained momentum or even increased in speed. It is like a bouncing effect of a rubber ball. Good wheels explode on impact with the surface of concrete. A good way to test the rebounding effect of your wheel, is by completing a 180° turn on your skateboard and if your board maintains most of its momentum after the turn, you will then know that you have good rebounding wheels.

Conical Wheels have soft and thin edges which resemble a cone for example Retro Lime 66mm Zig Zags. These types of wheels are great for carving on all types of hills and also flat surfaces. Soft Durometer wheels (75a) really obsorb rocks and cracks in the concrete really well.

Wheels can also be constructed with rounded lip, such as Abec 11 60mm NoSkoolz. These wheels have a thick rounded edge. This hefty edge makes it difficult to harm the wheel. The rounded lip wheel is a great wheel to do power slides with and also skate parks. But don't get us wrong, Noskoolz are great wheels for cruising too. We recommend rounded lip wheels on Standard King Pin Trucks. They can also be used on reverse king pin trucks as well.

Wheels are measured in Diameter ranging from 48mm to 97mm. Smaller wheels are recommend for trick skating. As wheels increase in size the ride becomes smoother and faster.

We offer wheel Durometers in the range of (75a Soft Crusing) to (101a Hard Ride).

Know that you understand the characteristics of a wheel, it is simple explain why we recommend upgrading your wheels.

Good wheels are constructed of premium polyurethane. The best way to understand the following anology is by using the gasoline that you put in your car as an example. Premium Gasoline is the same stuff that goes into making Premium wheels. You get better milelage and your car runs smoother and so will your skateboard.

Why Upgrade Bearings?

Is it really true that upgrading my skateboard to Bones Swiss or Bones Ceramics will make my Skateboard Crazy Fast?

Answer: Not always

Trick skaters ride really hard wheels with very little rebound. These guys need fast, but expensive bearings. Rebounding wheels are characteristics of wheels that are made of Premium Polyurethane. Rebound is that propelling effect that you get when a wheel you hit a crack but the wheel does not loose momentum. The wheels appear to have increased or maintained momentum. It is like the bouncing effect of a rubber ball. In our estimation, these types of wheels don't really require high end Swiss or Ceramic bearing, but rather Abec 5 Bones Reds.

At Muir Skate we start off by stocking your board with quality Abec 5 Bones Reds. Though not officially regulated, the ABEC system is a good way to determine the speed and/or quality of a bearing. The ABEC scale is a system for rating the manufacturing tolerances of precision bearings. Bearings rated under the ABEC system are typically called "precision bearings", and they are rated with a number from 1 to 9, with the higher number assigned to bearings manufactured against a higher standard of precision (high number = tighter tolerances = higher quality bearing). However, if you keep them clean and away from water, lower rated bearings can stand up just as well as a high quality bearing such as ABEC 5 rated Bones Reds (which we recommend for any rider).
